Re: Talk Back to Us!

Hi, everyone, this is Matthew Murray, the managing editor of ExtremeTech.

I really appreciate your all posting here, and I need to apologize for not responding to this before now.  I'm not going to bore you with a lot of excuses; I should  have gotten back to you before, but I didn't.  And I'm sorry.

I want to clarify one thing that euhodos brought up: "I heard ET was going down, soon.  Nada.  Extinct.  'Tell me it ain't so!'"

It ain't so.

Or, if it is, no one's told me. I just had a meeting last week about the future of ET, in fact, and I've been working very closely with writers on new stories about a wide variety of How-To topics.  I have a big pile of things to review, and no one has told me not to bother, so I'm planning on going ahead.

I understand that a lot of stuff has happened with ET in the past year or so, and that there haven't been many answers to the questions people have been asking. That's part my fault. But there are no plans whatsoever to do away with ET. I wanted to make sure you all understood that, and that you know that you are being listened to.  Once again, I'm sorry it took me so long to make that clear, but I'm going to do everything I can to change that starting now.

So I hope you'll keep posting, and feel free to interact with me directly--whether publicly or privately on the forums, by email (at matthew_murray AT pcmag.com), or on Twitter (@extremetech).  I want to hear what you all have to say, whether it's flattering or critical (but hopefully the nice kind of critical) or whatever.  I'll do everything I can to be straight with you and address your concerns--because chances are, they're mine, too.

Let me reiterate: ExtremeTech is not closing down.  Anything else you want to know?  Just write me.

Thanks,

Matthew Murray
